Karen Tweed and Karen Street come from polar opposite musical backgrounds yet are utterly inspired by each other and the same musical giants such as Piazzolla, Pärt or Karen Carpenter. Whether injecting jazz twists into traditional Irish music or gliding cheeky classical-inspired motifs into musette waltzes, they delight in breathing playfulness around wherever their accordions take them. Respected composers, this concert will include new pieces inspired by ‘A Glisk of Sun’ which are selected articles of ‘countrywoman’ Bessie Skea, whose weekly column for the Orcadian Newspaper lasted for forty years.
