Voces Thules fills St Magnus Cathedral with the sound of West Nordic medieval chant as might have been heard in this 12th century building in its earliest days. The rich sound of this vocal quintet explores music from various offices connected to this tradition including one that originates from St Magnus.
Voces Thules is a renowned Icelandic ensemble formed in 1992, specializing in the research and performance of medieval and Renaissance music, particularly Icelandic vocal and instrumental traditions. Known for reconstructing early works, such as the Office of St. Thorlak, the group has toured internationally and was nominated for the Nordic Council Music Prize in 2008.
