Transport by ferry and bus on Hoy is available for a limited number of concertgoers with the full excursion ticket.
The concert at Hoy Kirk may also be attended as a stand-alone event for £15.
Join Neil for a romp round Hoy and through Scottish classical music - transcribed and arranged for solo accordion. The tour will take you to Hackness Martello Tower, Lyness Naval Museum and finally to the Hoy Heritage Centre.
The music will emphasise both the local inspirations of Scottish composers and their international outlooks. The International is represented by McEwen’s impressionist view on the glittering waves on the French coast and McGuire’s arrangements of Chinese traditional melodies that hark back to the accordion’s oldest relative, the Chinese sheng. And the Local is celebrated in Ronald Center’s fiery, Bartók-ian (yet intensely Scottish)
Suite for piano, and Francis George Scott’s delicate miniatures. There may be one or two surprises in store as well…
