An orchestra specially created for the 50th anniversary performs a range of repertoire starting with the founder, Peter Maxwell Davies’ welcome written for an early festival. Sally Beamish has a long association with Orkney and we celebrate her 70th birthday with a work based on folk tunes.
Emma Halnan joins the orchestra for Mozart’s flute concerto and the concert ends with the same composer’s elegant and vibrant “Haffner” Symphony.
