ST MAGNUS FESTIVAL CHORUS
Rehearsals beginning for Mass in D Major, Op. 86 by Antonin Dvořák
Rehearsals for this year's Festival Chorus, led by Chorus Director Graham Shorter, will begin on Monday 24th February 2025 in the King Street Halls. Please note that the first rehearsal will start at 7.00pm, with subsequent rehearsals taking place weekly on Mondays at 7.15pm.
For the 2025 Festival, the Chorus will perform Mass in D Major, Op. 86 (Lužanská) by Antonin Dvořák which was written in 1887 to celebrate the opening of the chapel in Lužany, a town in the Czech Republic. The performance will take place in St Magnus Cathedral and will be conducted by Sarah Latto whose group, the Echo Vocal Ensemble, will be singing alongside the Festival Chorus. Echo is relatively ‘new on the block’, but already the choir’s new disc is Gramophone’s pick of the year.
Get Involved: ‘Come and Sing’ Afternoon
In advance of rehearsals starting, we’re hosting a ‘Come and Sing’ afternoon with tea and cake! A perfect opportunity for new members to experience what being part of this wonderful group is like; whilst also allowing regular members to dust down their vocal cords.
