We pay tribute to Peter Maxwell Davies in the year that would have been his 90th Birthday with a concert played on his piano. Mihai Ritivoiu presents music inspired by the island of Sanday by Max himself as well a tribute by Festival Director Alasdair Nicolson. Places, the land and the elements all inspire the works including the snow, wind and hills of Debussy’s preludes.
A laureate of several international competitions, including the George Enescu Competition in Bucharest, Mihai Ritivoiu has performed in major halls throughout Europe and Japan. He has given concerts with such orchestras as the Lausanne Chamber Orchestra, English Chamber Orchestra, MDR Leipzig, Romanian Radio Orchestra and George Enescu Philharmonic Bucharest.
