Music for the pleasure of the king, in this case Louis XIV, which highlights many of the familiar names of the French Baroque, many connected to the Court at Versailles. The concert ends with the flamboyant ballet music of fourteen movements from Rebel, one of the most curious talents of his generation. A feast of Baroque courtly sounds performed in the round.
