Land Sea and Sky 1

A mixtape and fascinating blend of art forms, a magical mystery tour featuring music new and old; films of landscape, seascape and historic sites as well as overlaid readings of poetry.  Our Festival poet, Jim Carruth, reads some of his own work and is joined by Isobel McArthur in readings of George Mackay Brown, Robert Rendall and Edwin Muir.    The musical performances have been filmed in various locations ranging from the Italian Chapel to St Magnus Cathedral, Ness Battery to St Ninian’s Kirk and contain music which crosses the centuries.  Music from Maxwell Davies to Hildegard of Bingen, Purcell to Debussy, Morton Feldman to Dowland with a little bit of CPE Bach, folk music and a world première by Sally Beamish.  Sit back and enjoy this eclectic mix.
