A recital programme which transports us across countries, landscapes and through the elements and weather. Several sets of elusive impressions bring us Liszt’s time in Switzerland, the delicate melancholy of Janacek’s Mists and Debussy’s fleeting sketches of snow, wind and hills. Beethoven’s sonata bears the name ‘pastoral’ and, though he did not name it, it has a sense of the countryside with drones and gigue-like final movement.
Mihai Ritivoiu was born in Bucharest and studied there at the National University before coming to the Guildhall in London. He is a laureate of many international competitions and is a regular recitalist across venues in Europe.
