J. S.  Bach Suite No. 1 in G

G. Sollima Lamentatio

G. Cassado Suite for solo cello

J.S. Bach's solo music for cello is some of the finest in the repertoire and the Suite No 1 in G is probably the best known. Alongside this familiar work, Timothée Botbol plays Cassado's Suite from the mid 1920s which pays hommage to the world of Bach and dance music whilst bringing the influence of his Spanish roots to bear.   The music of the cellist/composer Giovanni Sollima brings the performer's voice to the fore alongside his musical instrument.   Botbol has given solo performances in the UK, Switzerland, France, Germany and Italy, in venues including St John’s Smith Square, Royal Albert Hall, Purcell Room, Kings Place, Chapel Royal, Lausanne Steinway Hall and KulturRockt Festival. Starting his early musical education in Geneva at the Jaques Dalcroze Institute, he later progressed to the Lausanne Haute École de Musique and the Royal College of Music in London.
