Old friends of the Festival, and one of Scotland's foremost ensembles, the Hebrides brings a programme with connections to the Orkney and St Magnus Festival. Maxwell Davies' work takes its title from a poem by George Mackay Brown whose 100th birthday we celebrate this year: both writer and composer dear friends and founding fathers of the Festival. The Beamish and Nicolson works are tributes written in memoriam Maxwell Davies and the Scottish connection continues with Judith Weir and her Bagpiper's Trio. A world premiere from Tara Creme brings us right up to date with a new trio inspired by a painting by her father.
