Festival Chorus

The Festival Chorus is Orkney's own community choir which, each year, is given the unique chance to perform large scale choral works alongside top professional orchestra and soloists.

St Magnus Festival Chorus to perform Mozart's Requiem in June

St Magnus Festival Chorus  will reconvene on Monday 20 February, to begin rehearsals for Mozart's Requiem Mass in D Minor K626 which be performed with the Norwegian Radio Orchestra conducted by Miguel Harth-Bedoya on Sunday 18 June 2017 at Pickaquoy Centre, Kirkwall.

The St Magnus Festival Chorus concert, in which each year the Chorus performs a major choral work alongside the Festival’s visiting orchestra, is the culmination of four month’s hard work and is always a highlight of the Festival. This will be the first visit to the Festival by a non-UK orchestra.

Following their extremely successful performance in Beethoven's 9th Symphony in June 2016 alongside the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Chorus again featured on BBC Radio 3's broadcasts from the Festival.

Denise Stout, will again be Chorus Director in this, the Chorus’s 38th consecutive season and anyone interested in taking part in future, who has not previously sung with St Magnus Festival Chorus is asked to contact Denise on 761075

Rehearsals start on Monday 20 February, 7.15pm, at King Street Halls, Kirkwall
